The PS/MS 47 vision is one in which the staff members, students and parents work collaboratively in a safe and supportive environment. Learning is defined as an ongoing process that is incorporated into all aspects of the curriculum, as well as enrichment programs that link arts and literacy. We strongly encourage our students to take risks within the safety of the classroom in order to facilitate independence and higher order thinking skills. Our students will evolve into responsible, accountable and self-assured adults who will establish themselves as part of the community network
The mission of PS/MS 47Q is to create an environment that inspires all learners, enhanced by the Common Core Learning Standards and the use of technology, to become college and career ready, and achieve a high standard of excellence in school as well as in the community.
School Hours: Our school hours are from 8:10 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. Monday - Friday.
MORNING LINE UP:
Morning lineup takes place in the Multi-Purpose Room beginning at 8:00 A.M. Breakfast is free for all students. Breakfast begins at 7:45 A.M. and is over at 8:10 A.M. Students in K-8 not eating breakfast should not come to school until 8:00 A.M. Children will not be permitted in the building any earlier than 7:45 A.M. If you walk your child to school, he/she can be dropped off in the main lobby. For the safety of all children, please keep the hallways and lobby clear at all times.
If you are driving your child to school in the morning, observe the STOP-DROP and GO rules. Help keep the flow of traffic moving. STOP in front of the school, DROP your child off on the sidewalk, and GO! DO NOT PARK or DOUBLE PARK IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL BUILDING
At dismissal, every student will exit the building with his or her class at the designated door. For the safety of all children, please meet your child at the appropriate location. Parents may not wait in the lobby at, or before dismissal time. It is a safety hazard.
Kindergarten - Grade 3: Teachers will ONLY release students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 to their legal guardians, or those authorized IN WRITING as indicated on the Blue Emergency Contact Card. If you made special arrangements for someone not on the list to pick up your child (e.g., for a play date), you must send in a note in advance to your child's teacher.
Grades 4-8: Students may be dismissed on their own.
Bus Students: Any student who rides the school bus home must bring in a note to the teacher for any day he/she will not be taking the bus.
Please arrange to have your child picked up promptly at dismissal. Young children become easily upset when they are not met on time.
